During the Kunstroute, the alternative cultural centre Vrijplaats hosts, on behalf of Resistor, an exhibition of independent visual arts featuring four artists from different disciplines. Throughout the weekend, Resistor also presents a programme of short films in collaboration with BUTFF, showcasing works that reflect the free-spirited nature of the venue.
About the artists:
Jessica Wetzels
Expressive and experimental mixed-media paintings in which abstract worlds of emotion and experience converge. Working intuitively with materials such as spray paint, modelling paste, graphite and oil paint, her practice places particular emphasis on texture and layered surfaces.
Isabelle Arts
Autonomous illustrative works by the founder of Art and Anarchy (@artandanarchy_nl). Through black-and-white ink drawings, she explores philosophical perspectives. For the centenary of The Prophet, she reinterprets the classic work in a series of illustrations, collected and published together in a single volume.
Aymeric Halé
Analogue and digital photographer born in Rennes and living between Paris and Leiden, always with one foot in France and the other in the Netherlands. Inspired by street photography, he follows an intuitive approach, drawn to the overlooked, unexpected or accidental details of everyday life and moments of balance in colour, geometry and atmosphere.
Yasmine Smaili
Art brut with a vibrant and deeply personal visual language. Drawing from her own experiences, she creates figurative works in which identity, humanity and humour come together in a playful yet sincere way.
