<p>Resistor is trots opnieuw co-host te zijn voor het vrijdag programma van het
Peel Slowly Festival. Dit jaar zullen er drie acts op ons podium verschijnen.</p>
<h2>Able Noise</h2>
<p>Het Haags/Atheense duo Alex and George maakt experimentele muziek met
baritongitaar en drums. Door gebruik van hun stemmen en alternatieve methodes
van bespelen van instrumenten creeëren ze onvoorspelbare optredens, waarbij
compositie en improvisatie, live instrumenten en opgenomen tapes versmelten.</p>
<h2>AKa Rinde</h2>
<p>Gewapend met een steel-string gitaar, monster basdrum, percussie, stem en een
batterij wisselende units brengt de helft van Dÿse een ‘acoustic Molotov
cocktail with attitude’.</p>
<h2>Bombstrap</h2>
<p>Venijnig nieuw Rotterdams terror punk kwartet zoekt de excentrieke hoek kant
van de hardcore en komt verhaal halen met hun politieke geëngageerde woede in
de vorm van een explosieve, visueel gevaarlijke en conceptueel subversieve
show. </p>

<h2>English</h2>
<p>Resistor is proud to once again be co-hosting the Friday program of the Peel
Slowly Festival. This year, three acts will appear on our stage.</p>
<h2>Able Noise</h2>
<p>Alex and George’s experimental baritone guitar and drum duo, based between The
Hague and Athens. Through the use of voices, tapes, and alternative methods of
playing their instruments, they create a minimalist and visually striking
performance that explores the acoustics of space, the roles of performer and
audience, and the physicality of performing.</p>
<h2>AKa Rinde</h2>
<p>Armed with a steel-string guitar, monster bass drum, percussion, voice, and a
battery of shifting units, delivers what one half of Dÿse calls an “acoustic
Molotov cocktail with attitude.”</p>
<h2>Bombstrap</h2>
<p>Brand new vicious four-piece band, often referred to as Rotterdam terror punk,
preferring the weirder side of hardcore. Coming to hit you with their
politically charged rage, in the form of a visually dangerous and conceptually
subversive show, they invite you to explode with them.</p>

<p>The admission fee for the festival is higher than you’re normally used to from
us. Therefore, Peel Slowly is offering a reduced-price ticket that grants

Rotten Remains, Crustenunie & Schizm

<p>Wil je meer comfort, minder maandlasten, meer onafhankelijkheid en ook minder
klimaatverandering? Dan is het handig om meer te weten over verduurzamen!</p>
<p>Tijdens deze (tweede) info-avond van de werkgroep Energie Tussen de Rijnen,
leer je als bewoner hoe je met eenvoudige maatregelen en aanpassingen al een
verschil kunt maken. En dat is, gezien de weer stijgende energieprijzen,
gunstig voor je portemonnee, je comfort, maar zeer zeker ook voor het klimaat.</p>
<p>De werkgroep Energie Tussen de Rijnen bestaat uit bewoners uit de wijk. De
werkgroep richt zich op het informeren en betrekken van bewoners bij de
energietransitie in hun wijk. De werkgroep krijgt raad en daad van <a href="https://www.energiekleiden.nl/">Energiek
Leiden</a>.</p>

<p>Coming up at Resistor, Leiden on the 8th of april! Musique concrete, noise and
crude sound collages with: </p>
<h3>Francisco Meirino (Switzerland)</h3>
<p>Francisco Meirino is a sound artist. His work explores the tension between
programmable material and the potential for its failure. His interest lies
primarily in what is not supposed to be recorded : the end of life of
electronic devices, electrostatic noise, hiss, magnetic fields and the
unconventional use of music hardware and sound systems. His music combines
intricate textures, sonic precision, wide spatial panning and is fascinating by
its physical intensity and detail precision. </p>
<p>He mostly uses the modular synthesizer (Eurorack-Serge), microphone and field
recorder, reel-to-reel tape recorders, analog tape echoes, electronic magnetic
field’s detectors, computer and various home-made electro-acoustic devices. </p>
<h2>Dead Door Unit (United States)</h2>
<p>Philadelphia-based K. Geiger is active under the guises of Dead Door Unit,
Master Grave Services, and his imprint French Market Press producing
ultra-limited noise tapes (often 7 copies or less) in unusual packaging that
echoes labels like Sound Probe or SFCR. Geiger combines harsh noise with
fragmented and psychedelic junk loops to it's full potential. </p>
<h2>Tzu Ni (Taiwan)</h2>
<p>Tzu Ni is an installation/sound artist from Taiwan who's currently based in the
Netherlands. Her work primarily utilises spatial and sonic installations as her
practices; as to (de)construct the interconnected relationship between sound,
gender and space. </p>
<h2>ASCH (Netherlands)</h2>
<p>Familiar faces treading unfamiliar territory. ASCH is a Dutch collaborative
project featuring members of Svartvit and Geseling. They utilize various
methods such as tape manipulation, digital processing, electromagnetic
interference and field-recordings which result in feverish and crude sound
collages.</p>

<h2>Thema-avond Leidse Muurkrant</h2>
<p>De Leidse Muurkrant van de jaren zeventig was de schrik van iedere wethouder,
fabrieksbaas en gezagsdrager. Iedere twee weken werd de stad volgeplakt met
muurkranten, die berichtten over machtsmisbruik, censuur, corruptie en
uitbuiting. En toen het stadsbestuur besloot om de muurkranten wit te verven,
ontstond een grootse solidariteitsactie: Geen censuur op de muur!</p>
<p>Tijdens de thema-avond gaan we in de op de geschiedenis van de Leidse muurkrant
en de toekomst van alternatieve media.Een avond met lezingen, terugblikken,
interviews en muziek!</p>
<p>Deze lezing wordt georganiseerd door Resistor i.s.m. de Commissie Dirk van Eck
van de Historische Vereniging Oud Leiden.</p>

Geen censuur op de muur!

<h2>Carly E (Neo-classical)</h2>
<p>Stap binnen in een wereld van harmonie, waar celliste, zangeres en componiste
Carly E (Carlijn van Wijk) samen met de neoklassieke producer en pianist Cedric
Vermue haar solo debuutalbum "Natural" tot leven brengt. Op deze avond wordt je
meegenomen met de melancholische melodieën van de cello en het ritme van de
natuur, vanaf de zonsopgang tot de verschijning van de maan.</p>
<h2>Fabienne Julie (Melancholic folk)</h2>
<p>Fabienne Julie is een bibliotheek gevuld met korte verhalen waarin mentale
gesteldheid, zelfreflectie en hoop centraal staan. Met autobiografische folk
gehuld in cinematische melancholiek, bevraagt ze het leven, de liefde en de
patronen die haar gevormd hebben. Van zacht en klein, naar bombastisch en
groots, net zoals zijzelf. Geïnspireerd door Patrick Watson, Florence + The
Machine en Lizzy McAlpine, biedt Fabienne Julie haar publiek de ruimte te
voelen in de mooiste en lelijkste vorm.</p>
<h2>Thistle Sifter (Cinematic post-rock)</h2>
<p>Thistle Sifter is the cinematic post-rock project of English musician Pete
Barnes (Utrecht, NL). </p>
<p>Catapulted into disarray following a serious cycling accident in November 2020,
Thistle Sifter became a platform for Barnes to express his personal struggles
and emotions, transporting listeners into an ethereal world of serene
post-rock, spacey synth ambience, evolving soundscapes &amp; lo-fi folk. </p>
<p>Forever The Optimist is Barnes’ latest and most ambitious work to date,
offering a more eclectic and symphonic sound to his ever-expanding body of
work. Where previous albums A Spectral Moon (2022) and Circles (2024) strongly
focused on personal struggles with health, acceptance and letting go of the
past. Forever The Optimist deals with existential issues caused by man's
neglect of our natural environment and fellow humans in the pursuit of
neverending growth.</p>

<h2>The Arson Project (Swe)</h2>
<p>The Swedish grindcore legends are finally returning to Leiden. After shows in
2008 at SUB071 and in 2017 at CAB03, they will make their debut at Resistor
this April. The Arson Project started in 2005 and has grown into one of
Sweden’s leading grindcore acts. Their full-on live show is not to be missed!</p>

<h2>Possible Damage (Ger)</h2>
<p>Possible Damage are a three-piece powerviolence/grindcore tornado from
Oldenburg/Münster, featuring members of Svffer, Unrest, and Atomkrieg. After
releasing their first demo recordings in May 2022, the band followed up with
their self-titled debut album on Holy Goat Records and the Belgian label Loner
Cvlt.</p>

<h2>Blind to the Bars (NL)</h2>
<p>A two-piece political grindcore band based in the Netherlands. They released
the online debut album “Make Grindcore Protest Again” last year. They have been
very active since and are the perfect band to complete our Thursday package.</p>

<h2>L'Orne</h2>
<p>Raw Post Rock band from Rotterdam. Their bio states:  L’orne evokes feelings of
melancholy through their blend of doomy post-rock, ethereal slowcore,
psychedelic noise-rock and anything that flirts with the unpredictable and the
unhinged. </p>
<p>They are no strangers to our stage. They really had to improvise the first time
because our mixing desk broke down. They impressed anyway. We are exited L'orne
gets a rematch, now supported by all our equipment in full force.</p>

<h2>Ineptitude</h2>
<p>Hailing from Utrecht, Ineptitude was created as an alias for singer/songwriter
Thomas van Neerven and his home recording projects. Since the release of the
Monologues EP in 2023, the project has grown into a four-piece band of
like-minded musicians with a passion for loud, cathartic music. </p>
<p>Together, they create an intoxicating soundscape that seamlessly weaves
together elements from slowcore, emo, post-rock and doom metal. Their most
recent release, 2025’s The Distance We’ll Never Cross EP, sees them exploring a
sound that is equal parts vulnerable and punishing.</p>

<h2>Coaster</h2>
<p>The third band performing really ties the night together. Coaster, an
Utrecht-based folky slowcore project fronted by Bart Appel and Paul Dijkman.
They take influence from the lo-fi and slowcore acts of the 90s and 00s. The
duo added a drummer and currently perform as a three piece.</p>

L'orne, Ineptitude & Coaster

<p>Waar Lucas van Leyden in 1527 de laatste penseelstreken van zijn drieluik ‘Het
Laatste Oordeel' zette, zal 2026 de boeken ingaan als het jaar waarin Sunday at
Eight hun hoogsteigen artistieke drieluik afrondt. Het Leidse viertal
presenteert op zaterdag 16 mei namelijk hun derde EP met een releaseshow in de
Resistor. Hun derde; vandaar de titel ‘Triptych’ (Engels voor ‘drieluik’) –
maar ook omdat de sluimerende psychedelische klanken van de vorige EP ‘Ride’ op
het aanstaande vervolg zijn uitgemond in een volwaardige trip. Zwaarder,
gelaagder, duisterder, maar nog altijd met de kenmerkende, melodieuze Sunday at
Eight-sound. </p>
<p>'Triptych' is opgenomen in Studio Veldroos gedurende de kokendhete zomermaanden
van 2025. Je voelt dan ook het hellevuur aan je schenen likken als nummers
zoals ‘Push Me Around’ en ‘Heaven or Hell’ uit je speakers knallen, maar er is
ook ruimte voor introspectie en zelfs een paar stralen zonneschijn op ‘Ones and
Zeroes’ en ‘Purple Skies’. De band heeft het klassieke rock-instrumentarium van
elektrische gitaren, bas en drums op hun nieuwe EP uitgebreid met onder andere
synthesizers, dwarsfluiten, conga’s, twaalfsnarige akoestische gitaren en een
flinke dosis effecten. Daardoor is ‘Triptych’, met behulp van producers Cas
Samson en Arthur Vermeij, hun meest volwaardig gerealiseerde EP tot nu toe
geworden.</p>
<p>Voor de releaseshow op zaterdag 16 mei neemt Sunday at Eight het publiek mee op
een reis door de historie van de band. Het complete drieluik aan EP’s zal
chronologisch de revue passeren, beginnend bij de retro piano-pop van het
debuut en afsluitend met de banger ‘Weed On’; de recente publieksfavoriet en
afsluiter van ‘Triptych’. Verwacht een theatrale show, gevuld met visuals,
kostuums, decorstukken en gastmuzikanten. </p>
